Not that I wasn’t one to begin with, but I have realized that with all of the sensationalist things happening across the country and world directed at women and feminine people that I’m not quite as estranged from feminism as I thought. My feminism is a peculiar kind, but let’s say for the sake of argument that I not only believe that women are equal to men (and therefore do not need an explicit law saying we are because that is basically telling women that “Yep, you’re equal, but not really because you need something official that says straight out that you are) but that women are perfectly capable of doing almost everything a man can do. I say almost everything because we do have some physical limitations but don’t worry, they can’t do everything that we can do either. I don’t know how a man would survive having a period as their bodies are not prepared for them so every time someone tells me that a period pain isn’t rough or that I should suck it up I just wish I could transfer the feelings over to them, even for half an hour and then see what they think. But I have completely gotten off topic.

The world is a disgrace. You know it, I know it. Women do not attract rapists by dressing a certain way nor do we ask to be paid less than our male counterparts. We seem less powerful because we are women and that is why these things happen to us. And because the world is full of terrible people. I know there are wonderful people too, but the people you hear the most about are those who do wrong and that is a pure shame. We are attracted to the wrongs of society but when we hear about something good we tend to overlook it or reject it as there aren’t many good and pure things on the news therefore there aren’t many good and pure things period.

I feel such rage at those who use the term “girl” or “woman” in a derogatory fashion. I call people who are being awful (in my head of course, can’t let that “Minnesota Nice” image get besmirched) either “sack of santorum [check out Savage Love] or “ball sac” as it is much more helpless than the female genitalia (or so we believe). I refrain from using the word “wuss” as it relates to a weak woman [look it up in a slang dictionary!] and “pansy,” “sissy” or what have you because being a woman, being feminine, does not make a person weak.

I have missed my point by the long side. Perhaps more later. Follow @violetblue [www.tinynibbles.com] on Twitter for more reasons to become outraged for the plight of women. Watch “Older than America” by Georgina Lightning for more reasons to become outraged for the general lack of knowledge and so many other awful things regarding Reservation schools in North America and the way Indians [Native Americans, American Indians, Aboriginals or Native Peoples] were and are treated. Some people cried at the end of the film. All I wanted was a baseball bat and someone to punish.

Terrifying.

Americans, I have some bad news for you: You have the worst quality of life in the developed world – by a wide margin. If you had any idea of how people really lived in Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many parts of Asia, you’d be rioting in the streets calling for a better life. In fact, the average Australian or Singaporean taxi driver has a much better standard of living than the typical American white-collar worker. I know t … Read More

This is beyond scary.

How To Spot an Internet Sex Research Hoax Media coverage of sex research is often misleading and sensational. Whether stating that sex aids prostate health when the real benefit comes from an orgasm (which can be had alone or with a partner) or representing one researcher's interpretation of data as absolute fact, reporters tend to drop the ball and reinforce long-held stereotypes about sexuality. But then there are times when they just make shit up. A commenter recently posted what I co … Read More
